Hang Seng Investment Management Limited (“HSVM") was incorporated in Hong Kong with limited liability in April 1993. HSVM is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hang Seng Bank Limited (the "Bank") and is the investment arm of the Bank. HSVM provides investment management services to the Bank and the Bank’s customers and has extensive experience in managing index-tracking funds, retirement funds, institutional accounts and private client portfolios. In particular, it has expertise in managing funds related to the Mainland and Hong Kong markets, including funds investing directly in the Mainland market through the qualified foreign institutional investor (QFII) regime since 2003, and an Renminbi qualified foreign institutional investor exchange traded fund (RQFII ETF) launched in 2013. 

Based in Hong Kong and has investment footprints spanned across Greater China and Asia[1]Pacific markets, HSVM is the largest home-grown asset manager in Hong Kong, and is a pioneer in Hong Kong-China strategies. With nearly 30 years of experience in asset management, HSVM has extensive experience in managing funds (including a series of ETFs, retail funds and MPF funds) and investment portfolios for institutional and private clients; and is seasoned in investing in both the equities and fixed income spaces.

We are now seeking a high caliber to join our department as Head of Investment Operations who will oversee the strategic development and daily work of the Investment Operations teams and functions, including trade execution, settlement and reconciliation, investment restriction monitoring, portfolio accounting/reporting, and data management.  This role requires experience, leadership, and strategic vision. 

 

Principle Responsibilities : 

  • Assist the Chief Operating Office (COO) to lead the Investment Operations function and teams
  • Provide guidance and structure to ensure consistent, superior execution and maintain an environment of continuous optimization of team performance, and processes 
  • Ensure the duties taking up by the Investment Operations Department are delivered with high accuracy, quality and good time management
  • Represent Investment Operations to company leadership, clients, vendors and other external constituencies
  • Mentor and guide professional development of Investment Operations team
  • Work with Investment Operations Managers to identify process improvement programs and business risks. Build and implement plans to address these areas 
  • Build relationships with key partners across the organization to understand business needs and risks, defining service asks and requirements for Investment Operations 
  • Oversee assigned business planning and business unit goal setting efforts
  • The role involves the day-to-day people and administrative management of the Department 

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree with major in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field. MBA is preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the financial services industry, including experience managing and leading investment operations teams 
  • Significant knowledge and experience with transactional accounting and trade execution systems, including order management and electronic trading systems 
  • Significant experience working with a broad array of portfolios and asset classes
  • Proven ability to build teams and form trusted and productive relationships across organization 
  • Demonstrable experience guiding change within an investment operations environment, leading cross functional efforts, and educating colleagues about operations topics 
  • Experience in managing teams and service vendors
  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated knowledge of general compliance issues in KYC
  • Effective stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Word, Intermediate Excel, proficient in Office 365 and general IT applications 
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg AIM, DTCC platform is desirable but not essential
