Head of Product Strategy - Hong Kong (Brand new role)
The Head of Product Strategy has a strong business-orientation and is responsible for the development and implementation of the strategic plan for handy and products. The Head of Product Strategy maintains close relationship with the market (customers, evaluators, and potentials) for awareness of market needs and perspectives. This includes identification of appropriate markets and development of effective marketing strategies and tactics. This person is involved through all stages of a product family's life cycle.
This position performs all of the duties and responsibilities of a Product Strategy and Business Growth/Planning.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Define, commit to, and track the product strategy, roadmap and release plans for the product(s). This requires assessing requirements of the market for Tink labs by communicating with customers, prospective customers, other industry experts, Sales and Operations personnel and analyzing competitive data to understand trends, requirements and anticipate needs for product creation.
Participate in the Product Roadmap process and meetings where all product roadmaps are presented and discussed amongst the Product Management and executive staff, as well as any reviews of said roadmaps during the year. The Roadmap meetings are used to determine resource needs and product direction.
Manage one or more Product personnel
Oversee and/or conduct Win/Loss analysis. Research competitive products and features, using the data to innovate new or existing products that provide our customers business value.
Responsible for research and organizational learning related to emerging technologies and innovation of solutions based on such technologies to satisfy market requirements.
Oversee and enforce the use of roadmap and plan documentation standards in effect at any given time, using the tools prescribed in such standards
Oversee the prioritization of features and bug fixes based on plans developed by the technical product managers and make sure the work adheres to priorities dictated by company , competition, market opportunity, company resources, profitability and time to market goals.
Monitor and evaluate the typical buying process, and lead pricing and business model recommendations for products based on costs and economic opportunity. Sales and Marketing will build appropriate final price packages and bundles.
Commit to and review monthly product/service sales figures and pipelines, revenue, costs, margins, and ROI; establish regular meetings to review internal goals and determine if changes must be made to pricing, sales techniques, bundling, feature set, etc. when actuals are lower than goals.
Liaison with User Groups in cooperation with Product Marketing.
Oversee, drive and participate as appropriate in Release Teams for the products in the Data & Analytics Department and make sure the Data pillar adhere to the Release Process in effect at any given time.
Liaison with Product Marketing on branding, marketing and positioning plans. Make sure product/service announcements and press releases reflect our value propositions.
Provide input, feedback and timely reporting to Executive Management and other stakeholders on the status of release plans and roadmaps.
Determine Buy/Build/Partner decisions and oversee/manage the technical relationship with 3rd party partners.
Together review the product implementation processes for accuracy, standards and functional compliance to the marketing specifications.
Make sure the Data Pillar provides backup support to Product Marketing Managers and/or Sales Support to provide technical presentations, training and demonstrations to help customers, potential customers, Sales staff, and industry experts understand products, trends, and standards pertaining to area of expertise.
Minimum a BA/BS Degree in Business and/or Software Engineering, or equivalent related experience. Higher education a plus (e.g. MS, MBA)
At least 5 years working knowledge with product management
Experience from the mobile industry – either directly or working as a supplier to the industry
Must know how to create and present a successful business case
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be able to manage large projects and break them down into workable units
Must be able to negotiate with Executives, Product Managers, Business Analysts and engineers on new functionality as well as enhancements
Specific Requirements – Data & Analytics
Understand data and analytics platforms as they pertain to the Media Industry.
Must be able to confidently work with and understand Data Management Platforms (DMP’s), Business Intelligence Tools and Platforms (BI), “Big Data" Architectures and Data Structures, with the aim of gathering, storing, organizing, structuring, exchanging and presenting large volumes of business and consumer data in consumable formats.
Knowledge of and experience with data integration platforms) for application integration as well as API communication.
Experience in the following areas will be an advantage:
Reporting and dashboards – making data actionable
Real Time and Predictive Analytics
Using data in targeted marketing campaigns
Using data for content recommendations and personalization
Experience in using data to drive business initiatives in media companies will be highly valued.
Travel will be required – likely not more than 20% of the time.
