Hong Kong Tax Compliance and Advisory, Associate

Job Purpose
  • Reporting to Executive Director in Hong Kong and managing Hong Kong corporate tax compliance, tax planning and tax risk management for Hong Kong.
  • Responsible for tax compliance and reporting for the JP Morgan legal entities and business units in Hong Kong.
  • Partner with key business and functional support stakeholders, and ensure effective interaction and communications at all levels.
  • Provide tax advisory services in a commercial setting with key focus on controls and business risk management.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Manage Hong Kong tax compliance matters, including but not limited to internal and external tax reporting, transfer pricing documentation, and deal with Hong Kong tax authority's tax queries .
  • Identify issues to enhance tax compliance and reduce risk of tax audit.
  • Provide tax advisory services and execute priority / deliverables. This will involve review of new business initiatives, tax risk and control management, technical tax updates and general tax planning matters.
  • Partner closely with Corporate Tax team colleagues, the line of business teams, functional support stakeholders located both within and outside Asia.
  • Work with external advisors to deliver technical / commercial tax advice and manage the related tax risks.
  • Support firm-wide and team specific initiatives as well as other ad hoc projects impacting Hong Kong.
  • Follow through on issues / projects and pursue effective communication with all stakeholders.

  • Degree in Accountancy or equivalent Accountancy qualification, CPA or Law degree
  • Applicants must have at least 6 years of professional tax experience in Hong Kong tax
  • Solid knowledge of Hong Kong tax regime, including stamp duty
  • Ability to critically analyze business operations and transactions from a tax perspective with an appreciation of the wider country / business perspectives
  • Strong communication (both written and verbal), interpersonal and partnership skills, attention to detail and positive / proactive attitude
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and reporting tools
