HR Director, Business Partner – Asia Pacific

Our core focus in Asia is delivering strategic and sustainable, global sourcing and supply chain solutions for McDonald’s Happy Meal. We are operationally based out of Hong Kong but our Asia teams are spread throughout Japan, China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore and Lebanon. The Director, HR Business Partner is responsible for leadership of the Asia Human Resources department and is a business partner to the Global Sourcing & Supply Chain (GSSC) and Asia Pacific Agency leadership teams. This role will take ownership for talent management, succession planning, change leadership, and risk management. This person also manages strategic workforce planning to cultivate GSSC capability growth.

This role reports to the Managing Director, Global Sourcing and Supply Chain and functionally to the Senior People Partner.


  • Provide business partnership to the Managing Director to facilitate cost-effective and sustainable people growth.
  • Develop a HR strategy and associated budget that delivers progressive people solutions and facilitates sustainable organizational change.
  • Partnering and coaching the MD, leadership and HR teams to ensure successful communication and implementation.
  • Lead people planning initiatives with focus on future needs and resulting gap analysis, skills acquisition and development strategies, and strategic workforce planning initiatives.
  • Crafting robust training and development initiatives to close critical skills gaps and enable employee development.
  • Lead all aspects of the maintenance of an employee relations environment that ensures trust, support of management decisions and outstanding work performance.
  • Enable cross-regional collaboration across our operating locations, including Hong Kong, China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, Japan, and Lebanon.
  • Maintain accurate data across all locations to enable data driven decisions, identifying trends and developing appropriate solutions.
  • Coordinate development of a regional operating model to combine HR operations and process across the wider organization.
  • Develop and lead regional Diversity, Equity & Inclusion activity across all countries in the region and demonstrate inclusive leadership behaviors as a visible and vocal champion of DEI.
  • Play an active role in the global HR team, adapting global initiatives and practices to ensure relevance to land with cultural sensitivity, effectively.
  • Build and implement dynamic policies across all Asia Pacific regions, engaging partners and seeking continual employee feedback.


  • Proven experience operating in a HR leadership role in a similar industry.
  • Ideally you will have knowledge and understanding of a sourcing and supply chain business and have operated at a global level.
  • Experience of people management and leadership and proven capability of establishing a team culture based on trust, opportunity and growth.
  • A strategic approach and passion for challenging the status quo and crafting progressive people solutions that facilitate change.
  • Experience designing and leading change management projects and collaborating and implementing cross functionally and globally.
