Human Resource Manager

The job holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young person’s for whom s/he is responsible, or with whom s/he comes into contact will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with the relevant Cognita Safeguarding; Child Protection Policy and Procedures at all times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the role, the job holder identifies any instance that a child is suffering or likely to suffer significant harm either at school or at home, s/he must report any concerns to the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead or to the Head of School or indeed to the Regional CEO or Safeguarding Manager – Asia so that a referral can be made accordingly to the relevant third party services.

Reporting to the General Manager, the HR Manager will be establishing and implementing HR strategies and initiatives as well as being the primary contact on all HR issues. The candidate will be responsible for a broad variety of HR activities, including recruitment, C&B administration, policies reviews, teacher registration, visa matters etc.


  1. Recruitment
  • Work closely with Heads of School and Heads of Departments to understand the manpower needs and challenges to work on recruitment / succession plans
  • Manage end-to-end hiring process, including drafting of Job Descriptions, talent sourcing, screening and interviewing, background and reference checks and on-boarding etc
  • Ensure the hiring process for teaching staff is align with EDB’s requirement
  • Assist in visa renewal and teacher registration process
  1. C&B Management
  • Administering payroll, MPF and tax in due course
  • Administration of Employees’ Compensation and medical insurances
  • Assist in any programmes promoting well-being to align with the Group’s objective
  • Database management
  1. Training & Development
  • Identify training needs
  • Roll out and assign trainings whenever necessary
  • Assist in translating the training materials for our Cantonese speaking helpers and delivering the training whenever necessary
  1. Project Management
  • Vaccination / covid tests for staff and contractors
  • Assist in the faculty remuneration project
  1. Performance Management
  • Assist in the process for school administrators and helpers
  1. Budget management
  • Plan, review and manage the budget to best achieve school objectives
  • Work closely with Finance on securing budget and allocating against campuses
  1. Ad-hoc assignments

Position Requirements

  • Hands on experience in delivering qualitied HR functions, preferably with project and team management experience
  • Well verse with employment related ordinances and EDB regulations
  • Highly organized and possesses effective time management skills
  • Strong people management skills
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and tight deadline
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin)


  • Degree holder in business administration or related discipline
  • 6-10 years of experience in general HR management, preferably with experience in the Education industry 
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills and the ability to communicate effectively in a complex global environment with cultural diversity
  • Excellent IT skills e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint
