Financial Control Division - Insurance Business Finance Department

Hang Seng's Financial Control Division works closely with the Bank's stakeholders, including business partners, shareholders, regulators and external examiners. We function as their accountants and business partners in providing comprehensive information on financial management, financial planning, financial reporting and compliance, capital planning and reporting, financial control & SOX control, tax advisory, insurance finance, and treasury and investment finance.  

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our department as Insurance Finance Control Manager (Contract).

 

Principal responsibilities

  • Work effectively with wider onshore and offshore team to prepare financial information and other internal and external reports for various stakeholders
  • Observe stringent regulatory/ group reporting requirements as well as SOX requirements
  • Coordinating internal and external audit, SOX, and internal control
  • Oversight work performed by offshore team
  • Support implementation of new Hong Kong Financial Reporting Standards (i.e. IFRS 17) or other regulations related
  • Participate in system enhancement/ development project, provide business user requirements, review and comment on account mapping and related UAT result where necessary.
  • Good business sense, coupled with good business partnering and ability to work collaboratively with different stakeholders
  • Maintain proper accounting records and procedure manuals
  • Support ad hoc matters and administration tasks related to the Department.

 

Requirements

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline with a recognised professional accounting qualification an advantage
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in accounting/actuarial/ auditing, with knowledge of insurance industry and financial products an advantage.
  • Candidates with IFRS 17 knowledge, investment accounting, financial reporting in insurance companies and/or Big 4 audit work experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong analytical mind with good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Sound knowledge of application software such as MS Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English and Chinese

(Candidates with less experience will be considered for Assistant Manager role.)
