IT Manager (Smart Campus) (at the rank of Supervisory Executive Officer) in the Computing Services Centre

The Computing Services Centre (CSC) has a clear goal of making the campus smart and creating integrated user experience for research, teaching and learning activities.  It is looking for a like-minded IT professional to embark on several initiatives (e.g. AI-based video analytics, next-generation PA system, Smart Metering System, in-door navigation using Beacons, Space Management and Booking Systems, Building Automation using Internet of Things (IoT) sensors, and classrooms/workspace modernization).  The appointee will take up the role of Portfolio Manager to aid relevant offices to ensure proper and appropriate IT systems be selected and implemented.

Duties :

  1. Ensure proper campus experience for university stakeholders (including supporting staff, faculty, researchers, students, visitors);
  2. Plan, design, implement, and manage technology projects;
  3. Monitor, track, and take actions to continuously enhance service level and user experience;
  4. Conduct solutions research and prepare proposals on innovative use of technology to support the University operations;
  5. Execute procurement processes - prepare tendering specifications and assess technical proposals;
  6. Communicate with internal staff and University members to understand their requirements, and implement IT solutions to address their needs;
  7. Work with vendors in implementing effective and secured IT solutions;
  8. Prepare related system documentation; and
  9. Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements :

  1. A good honours degree in Information Systems/System Engineering/Information Technology or related disciplines, with at least 10 years’ work experience;
  2. Solid knowledge of API connectivity, security, and microservices architecture;
  3. Past experience in programming;
  4. Proven record and practical experience of IT/AV projects in hospitality/higher education sector;
  5. Professional certificates and skills in project management;
  6. Strong analytical and good interpersonal skills;
  7. Being self-driven and proactive with a problem solving attitude; and
  8. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese.

Salary and Conditions of Service
Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes, and housing benefits (where applicable).
