IT Software Engineer - Order Management - Dev - Java

This is a Server side role involved in building core technology for Equities Front Office Applications. You will be focusing on direct development related activities such as coding, design, configuration management, and support.

You will be a ‘hands on’ developer working within a small focused team with exposure to Equity personnel. You will be part of a development team that is an integral part of a high energy front-office environment.

You’ll be working in the APAC Cash Equities IT team in Hong Kong. We are a global team spread in APAC, UK and US. The role requires participation with different teams and our team members across those regions.

You have:


  • Minimum 8 years of experience in core Java
  • Minimum of 5 years hands on experience with data structures, algorithms, and network programming using Java NIO
  • Minimum of 5 years extensive development expertise in high performance, high availability, high throughout, high capacity, yet low latency, transaction-oriented, distributed system, preferably in a financial environment
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience with order management systems or order state handling
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience with development on a Unix and/or Linux environment

As a successful senior OMS developer, you are:


  • Highly committed, and able to build very close working relationships with both the business and support teams.
  • Proactive in driving technical initiatives through the organization, working with business and technical colleagues to arrive at optimal solutions for complex business requirements, often involving several systems and component parts of those systems.
  • Able to deliver from conception through to production streamlined, high-availability, high-performance, high-quality, well-tested and easy-to-support software in a timely manner.
  • Able to demonstrate technical leadership and influence both within his immediate team and outside of it, and act as a mentor to more junior team members.
  • Accountable and have a strong sense of ownership of your system and will continually strive to improve it. You will be proactive about addressing any deficiencies, risks and stability problems by helping to develop & refine software, tools, processes, procedures and documentation.
