Early Childhood and Elementary Education Division
The Early Childhood and Elementary Education Division (ECEED), an academic arm of the School of Continuing Education, is the premier provider of early childhood and primary school teacher education in Hong Kong. It currently offers a range of academic programmes on a full-time or part-time basis for students pursuing courses with qualifications awarded from certificate to postgraduate levels. Its training programmes on early childhood education are supported by the Hong Kong Baptist University Kindergarten (HKBU-K) which provides a training platform for the students of ECE programmes. HKBU-K, as a self-financed university-affiliated kindergarten, adopts play-based learning and values whole-child development for its 300 children studying in the morning/afternoon (Cantonese) and full-day bilingual (Cantonese and English) sessions. HKBU-K is also going to launch an international stream. Applications are now invited for the following positions:
Lecturer I / Lecturer II (PR0042/19-20)
The appointee will perform the following duties: (i) teach in their fields of studies; (ii) design, develop curriculum and coordinate related matters; (iii) lead and manage part-time teaching staff to work as a team; (iv) execute quality assurance requirements; (v) supervise students on research projects and fieldwork practice; and (vi) provide guidance and counselling services to students.
Applicants should possess a higher degree in Educational Psychology/Educational Administration with an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese. Preference will be given to candidates with a Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma in Education/Certificate in Kindergarten Principals and work experience in higher education/early childhood education. Good interpersonal skills and willingness to work outside normal working hours are also essential.
Reference salary range:
Lecturer I : HK$49,000 - HK$78,000
Lecturer II : HK$36,000 - HK$47,000
Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.
