The appointee will be required to:

  1. assist the Librarian in managing a library section;
  2. support the daily operation of one or several areas of specialty, e.g. cataloguing, acquisitions, interlibrary loans, information services, library systems;
  3. prepare correspondence, memos, notices or other publicity materials to communicate effectively with users on accessing and using library services and facilities;
  4. perform clerical support work for the library such as processing of invoices, compiling statistical data and preparing reports;
  5. liaise with vendors and suppliers on terms of service/supply;
  6. participate in collection development activities;
  7. assist in promoting and marketing of library services;
  8. supervise junior staff and assist in training them; and
  9. perform other duties assigned by the Librarian and/or delegates.

Remarks: Shift duties are required. 


Applicants should:

  1. possess a recognized first degree;
  2. at least 5 years’ relevant experience with at least 2 years’ relevant post-qualification experience in an academic library environment; or lesser working experience for Master degree holders
  3. be proficient in both written and spoken English and Chinese;
  4. be self-motivated, well-mannered and a team player with the ability to work independently; and
  5. have good computer skills; and
  6. have an additional qualification in Librarianship or Information Science would be an advantage.

Salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
