GENERAL EDUCATION OFFICE

The appointee will assist the General Education (GE) Office in the implementation and evaluation of the GE Programme and service-learning (SL) initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate and implement quality assurance exercises for interdisciplinary GE courses and GE Programme;
  • Plan, coordinate and implement impact assessment and action research on SL courses;
  • Conduct literature review, data collection and analysis, prepare reports and research articles on GE and SL for presentation/publication;
  • Organise workshops, conferences and activities that foster knowledge exchange and capacity building in GE and SL in higher education institutions;
  • Perform other administrative duties; and
  • Occasional travelling would be required.

Requirements:

  • A Master’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Sciences or relevant disciplines, and five years of post-qualification work experience; a doctoral degree will definitely be an asset;
  • Proficient in both spoken and written Chinese and English (Putonghua is a plus);
  • Good knowledge of and skills in conducting quantitative and qualitative evaluation including class observations and focus group interviews with respect to learning outcomes, and analysing data using relevant computer software and applications (including SPSS, NVivo);
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in working with people at different levels;
  • Proven managerial, organisational and problem-solving skills with a strong sense of responsibility; and
  • Able to work independently and in a team and under pressure.

Priority will be given to those who have experience in interdisciplinary/experiential learning, service-learning and/or research-based educational projects.

Applicants with less experience will be considered for the post of Assistant Manager (Engagement and Learning).

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test.

Initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two or three years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
