Manager, Group Strategy & Corporate Development


Job Summary

Support the assessment and execution of all strategically import Corporate Transactions (M&A, traditional partnership distribution and non-traditional distribution) by working in close collaboration with Business Units, Group Office functions, third party advisors and potential business partners (where relevant)

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and assessment of all strategically important Corporate Transactions including the development of transaction rationale, business case development, commercial structuring and bid strategies for all inorganic opportunities across the Group.
  • Working collaboratively with Group Office functional teams and Business Unit teams, supporting the Corporate Transactions process as follows:
    • review of/or development of transaction rationale and initial assessment
    • development of potential pursuit plans - covering pursuit strategy for opportunities approved to undergo further assessment
    • transaction assessment support including:
      • managing the process for developing the valuation and financial modelling of all transactions approved for further assessment,
      • review / development of business plans, valuations, commercial terms and bid strategy recommendations for senior management consideration which are commercial, practical and sustainable and allow AIA to deliver superior returns
      • participating in management meetings and workshops with potential business partners and their advisors
      • provide input into external materials corporate communications and announcements, offer letters, workshop materials, management meeting questions, due diligence assessments and legal documentation
      • review of transaction transition and integration plans
      • establishment of transaction tracking process for executed transactions, working with other Group functions as needed
      • assistance with implementation and initial business planning as required to support with transaction implementation and handover to BAU
  • Support the development of best practice tools, resources, and processes to support the development of business plans and commercial proposals for potential M&A/partnership distribution transactions
  • As required, assist other teams across the Group (including Business Units) to evaluate and execute strategically important growth opportunities and other strategic projects and initiatives in line with above responsibilities


  • CFA / Actuary with financial services consulting or investment banking experience
  • Between 3 - 7 years industry experience
  • Excellent valuation and corporate finance skills
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Strong strategic orientation and business sense
  • Ability to work with external advisors, including consultants and market research advisors
  • Ability to work in cross-functional / disciplinary teams and interact with senior management
  • Results driven with proven track record in driving and achieving results
  • Effective communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills
  • Independent and innovative thinker
  • Excellent leadership skills and motivator
  • Flexible, able to work in dynamic environment and across cultures
