The Role Responsibilities

Support for Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF) implementation in Commercial Banking

  • Given the roll-out of ERMF (Enterprise Risk Management Framework), the role acts as support to the Business as a first line of defence for the key principal risk types under ERMF including Compliance Risk, Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) Risk, Conduct Risk, Information & Cyber Security Risk, Reputational Risk, Operational Risk including Fraud Risk. 
  • Assist with the implementation of ERMF where the business as the first line of defence owns the end to end process of their activities together with Risk, including issues arisen from supporting area such as products/functions. The role is also to enhance support to some newly emerged risk types such as Conduct Risk, Reputational Risk, Information & Cyber Security (ICS) risk, Fraud risk and Data Privacy etc. 

Process & risk management

  • Ensure the effective management of end to end processes and associated risks, in support of the business strategy, at a country level and consistent with Group.
  • Proactive identification, management and escalation (where applicable) of material risk in accordance with the bank’s Risk Management Framework.
  • Ongoing business self-assurance to ensure a robust control and operating framework and satisfactory audit results.
  • Implementation and ongoing management of the Operational Risk Framework (“ORF").
  • Act as the local champion to proactively co-ordinate and drive Group CB and COO agenda, priorities and initiatives in relation to process and risk control and governance

Conduct of Control Reviews and Deep Dive Root Cause Analysis review

  • Responsible for the conduct of control reviews with regard to key risks types such as Operational Risk/Fraud Risk, Compliance Risk, Financial Crime Compliance/CDD risk etc.
  • Liaison with various parties to conduct root cause analysis deep dive review. 

Infrastructure & change management

  • Drive the Bank’s and CB’s standardization agenda in-country.
  • From a local country perspective, anticipate and plan for material process, infrastructure and regulatory risks and any necessary process and infrastructure change ahead of evolving business and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in driving the control agenda for CB HK.
  • Engage with Functions towards achieving alignment of functional support consistent with Group standard operating model.
  • Implement Group projects, global process changes.
