Job Description:

With the strong trend that Hong Kong market is gradually integrated into the Greater Bay Area (“GBA") under the state-drive strategy initiative, it is expected that GBA will open up a new door for growth for insurers in Hong Kong. SLHK is closely monitoring the development of the GBA and the opportunities and expanding MCV market has become one of SLHK’s initiatives in the coming years.

As SLHK looks into the MCV opportunity, building and enhancing our existing capabilities to deepen our understanding of mainland clients’ needs and tailor make products according to mainland clients’ traits will help strengthen SLHK’s foundation to serve a platform to capture the wider GBA opportunities.

The objective of the role is to contribute to product proposition with a strong focus in conducting research on mainland clients’ preference and designing products according to mainland clients’ needs in support of SLHK’s MCV strategy.

Job Responsibilities

1) Market Research and Product Proposition

  • Deepen SLHK’s understanding of the MCV life insurance market by conducting research of its eco-system including but not limited to industry trend, market competitive analysis, specific client segments.
  • Conduct target client research to understand mainland China clients’ needs and preference on insurance product and identify the gap in SLHK’s products.
  • Closely monitor any news, insurance market updates, competitor movements in both mainland China and HK and identify the business opportunity
  • Support product design and innovation according to research result and business needs to help achieving company’s business target.

2) Product Strategy

  • Support the product proposition team to construct a forward-looking product strategy and roadmap for SLHK to strengthen and spearhead our ambition to capture the business opportunities in mainland China.

3) Product Development

  • Proactively manage the product approval process to get relevant stakeholders’ buy-in of the product proposition including senior management, regional office and distribution teams.
  • Work closely with internal functions to drive recommended solution and ensure the feasibility of product designs.

4) GBA Project Initiatives

  • Closely monitor any updates and changes related to GBA policies and regulations related to the insurance industry.
  • Coordinate with the project team in the execution and implementation of strategic initiatives.
  • Steer discussion with distribution teams to ensure product’s marketability, form sales stories, seek market’s feedback on the products and react with potential solutions to support business growth opportunity across all channels.
  • Act as product SME to contribute in various projects such as new regulation implementation, operation enhancements, business development initiatives, etc.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree holder
  • At least 5 years’ experience in insurance industry related to product development, business development or financial planning,
  • Working experience in Mainland China market is preferred, but candidates with exposure in HK insurers which specialize in MCV business will also be considered.
  • In-depth understanding of the insurance products, clients’ needs/traits/culture, sales process and industry development in Mainland China and HK.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Excellence communication, influencing and persuasion skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Mandarin.
  • With a “can-do" attitude; willing to put in the extra effort.
  • A team player with a great sense of responsibility.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in using Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
