Located in Hong Kong, BASF’s Asia Pacific headquarters oversees more than 18,000 employees at about 100 production sites and 125 sales offices across the region. In addition to a number of regional business units, the Hong Kong office also houses regional functional units including Corporate Affairs, Finance and Controlling, Human Resources, Management Consulting, Procurement and Supply Chain Services.

Objectives of the Position

  • Reporting to the Head of Regional Compensation & Benefits Asia Pacific, the incumbent will act as the centre of excellence (CoE) on C&B topics to provide advisory and consultative services to the HR community, lead regional and global compensation and benefits (C&B) projects implementation and support the development and implementation of C&B strategies in the Asia Pacific region with focus on employee attraction and retention.

Job Responsibilities

  • Analyse and review salary review proposals, salary and bonus structure for Asia Pacific countries

  • Analyse country economic indicators, company business results and market data in order to review and make recommendation for Regional HR Management approval

  • Review market data and market trend regularly to further develop appropriate regional guidelines and best practices on C&B topics

  • Provide advisory and consultative services to HR community in the Asia Pacific region

  • Develop C&B analytics and metrics to support management on data-driven decision making

  • Liaise with global counterparts on global C&B program and provide feedback and advice to ensure fulfilment of regional needs as well as alignment with the global framework

  • Lead global and regional C&B projects implementation in Asia Pacific region

  • Assist in HR system (SAP) enhancement and implementation

  • Support ad hoc projects as assigned


  • Holder of Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related disciplines

  • 8 years or above working experience with at least 5 years in C&B scheme design and implementation

  • Experience in global organization and MNC environment with ability to comprehend diversity of the region

  • In-depth knowledge of C&B concept, including survey benchmarking, salary management, variable pay design and fundamentals of benefits program

  • Superb analytical skills with demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills

  • Critical and systematic thinking

  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Good knowledge and experience of SAP or other HRIS software

  • Excellent command in written and spoken English

  • Candidates with less experience will be considered as Senior Specialist
