Drive technical excellence for AXA HK as well as other AXA entities in Asia, including but not limited to underwriting strategy review, governance framework development, portfolio steering and management, portfolio analytic and monitoring, etc., and develop AXA HK as the center of excellence locally and regionally
Provide subject matter expertise and be the escalation point for complex underwriting cases of AXA HK as well as other AXA entities as required and perform review on underwriting referral
Drive underwriting strategy on new product development, micro/partnership products and digital platform, to facilitate business growth
Conduct periodic underwriting file audits of all P&C lines of business as per the audit protocols to ensure entities' business discipline against entities' underwriting principles and delegations of authority
Ensure the Technical Underwriting team's alignment and compliance with legal, compliance and risk management teams in formulating and executing action plans and escalating issues as required
Strategic Initiativeand Project Management
Lead and drive the company's strategic initiatives, locally and regionally, and engage the local technical teams including Product Development, Pricing, Reinsurance, Distribution and Claims, to provide/coordinate the required technical support/service
Liaise and collaborate with the local teams as well as other AXA entities on Group's and/or Regional projects and ensure the delivery of the required outcomes
Contribute to the strategy planning of AXA HK as well as other AXA entities
Engage with AXA entities in Asia and other regions, e.g. AXA XL, AXA Africa, AXA Partners, AXA Climate, etc., to explore collaboration opportunities and business synergies
Conduct and/or coordinate underwriting and technical training for AXA HK as well as other AXA entities as required
Provide technical and professional insight for new product development
Contribute to the effective management of the local and regional P&L and the associated business strategy in order to drive profitable growth for the region and deliver the expected performance metrics, with particular focus on Underlying Results and Loss Ratio
Strong collaboration with local teams, regional teams, Group and other AXA entities
Self-driven on assigned initiatives
Qualifications in business or finance with ACII or FCII accreditation preferred
At least 6-7 years' experience in general insurance underwriting, preferably with strong knowledge of the general insurance industry's challenges and competitive landscape
Robust business acumen and understanding of the economics of an insurance business, in particular the profitability drivers
Capable of developing effective technical underwriting principle and strategy with in-depth knowledge in order to drive profitability and minimize risk exposure
Strong influential, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with the ability to build mutually beneficial internal and external relationships
Strategic thinking from both local and regional perspectives
Well-developed written and spoken English language skills
Market experience in Asia and strong knowledge in Retail/Personal lines of business would be an advantage
