Excellent opportunity to work in the Hong Kong office of Europe’s largest single price retailer. Poundland is long established in the UK with over 900 stores nationwide, and is rapidly expanding. To support the strategic growth of the business we are looking for a Merchandiser to fit into a close-knit and expanding team.

Job Role

To prepare the best possible selection of products and suppliers for buyers to choose from and proactively develop new items to drive Poundland’s competitive advantage. The Merchandiser is the commercial representative of the buying team in Asia.


  • Product sourcing from China and Far East region
  • Price negotiation (with buying team)
  • New Product Development
  • Issue accurate purchase order
  • Chase pre-production samples for QA approval and artwork development
  • Check pre-production samples for correct labeling and aesthetics
  • Developing buyer briefs into supplier specific briefs
  • Planning of buying trips / cycles
  • Managing current vendor relationships
  • Reviewing new supplier opportunities
  • Work together with other departments in UK and HK to deliver Poundland goals


  • Minimum 5 years experience in General Merchandise retail sourcing
  • Good Knowledge of merchandising & excellent communication skills.
  • Good command of written and spoken English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
  • Hardworking and self-motivated, you will have the ability to work with minimal supervision, be able to work under pressure, and willing to work overtime.
  • Able to get along well with team members and work as part of a team.
  • Willing and able to travel to mainland China.
  • Immediate availability preferred.
