Part-time Contract Welfare Support and Liaison Assistant (Urdu)/(Nepali)

Salary: $66 per hour

Entry Requirements: 1. Candidates should –
(a) have completed Secondary 5 or equivalent;
(b) be able to communicate effectively in Chinese or English, both in written and spoken forms; and
(c) be proficient in Urdu or Nepali, both in written and spoken forms.
2. Preference will be given to candidates:
(a) with proficiency in Cantonese; and /or
(b) with relevant working experience and knowledge in running programmes, publicity and promotional work, receiving the public, community networking, liaison or event coordination.

Note: (1) Candidates are requested to indicate in the section under “Professional Qualifications" on the application form [G.F. 340 (Rev.3/2013)] which language(s) they are proficient in, and state details on relevant working experience in running programmes, publicity and promotional work, receiving the public, community networking, liaison or event coordination in the section under “Full Employment Record to date". Candidates failing to provide sufficient information on the application form will not be considered.
(2) Candidates will be required to attend a language test.
(3) Will be required to work during or outside normal office hours on any days, including weekdays (Monday to Friday), Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, etc. The working hours are subject to prevailing operational needs. Normally, the number of working hours will be less than 18 hours per week. There is no guarantee on the minimum number of hours of work in any given period.
(4) Mainly work in Yuen Long district.
(5) May be required to work outdoor, including in other districts.

Duties: (a) Assist in preparing and conducting group activities and programmes, publicity and promotional work, training and various activities, including but not limited to those for non-ethnic Chinese (NEC);
(b) Assist in performing networking duties/activities including conducting visits and providing escort services for NEC;
(c) Assist in the production of publicity/promotion materials in NEC language(s);
(d) Assist in managing and operating drop-in services of the centre(s);
(e) Assist in manning the reception/mobile service counters and receive incoming calls;
(f) Assist in establishing contact and maintaining liaison with members of NEC communities to gauge their service needs; and
(g) Other assigned duties.

Terms of Appointment: The successful candidate will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for a period of 12 months. The offer of further appointment beyond the existing contract is subject to the service need and the satisfactory performance and conduct of the appointee.

Fringe Benefits Rest days, statutory holidays, annual leave, maternity leave or paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.
