Personal Chauffeur

The Legislative Council Secretariat ("the Secretariat") is looking for a high calibre
individual for appointment as Personal Chauffeur. Under the supervision of The
Legislative Council Commission, the Secretariat's mission is to provide efficient and
professional secretariat, research and administrative support for the Legislative
Council, enhance community understanding of the activities of the Council and ensure
an effective avenue for redressing grievances of members of the public.

Main duties

The main duties of a Personal Chauffeur include:

(a) driving the official vehicle of the President of the Legislative Council;
(b) driving the vehicles owned or hired by The Legislative Council Commission;
(c) keeping the vehicles in a clean and good condition;
(d) assisting in loading and unloading the vehicles; and
(e) assisting in miscellaneous office duties.

The appointee will be required to work irregular hours and wear uniform.

Entry requirements

Candidates should:

(a) preferably have completed Secondary 5, or equivalent;
(b) be a holder of a valid driving licence for private car, light goods vehicle and

private bus (i.e. Hong Kong Driving Licence Classification Codes 1, 2 and 9);
(c) preferably have 10 years' active driving experience;
(d) have good knowledge of spoken Chinese and English;
(e) have excellent knowledge of roads, routes and places throughout Hong Kong;

(f) possess initiative, and be self-motivated and responsible.

The Secretariat may devise further criteria to shortlist applicants.
Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend a written test and a driving test.


The starting salary is $24,270 per month, increasing by one annual increment to
$25,790. There is also a monthly cash allowance for the rank of Personal Chauffeur
(the current rate is $475 per month). The successful candidate will be appointed on
three-year agreement terms subject to renewal upon satisfactory completion of service,
at which the appointee will be eligible for an end-of-agreement gratuity. The gratuity,
when added to the employer's contribution to a Mandatory Provident Fund Scheme, is
equal to 10% of the total basic salary drawn during the agreement period. Fringe
benefits include paid leave as well as medical and dental benefits.
