Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences
The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, working with more than 150 ophthalmologists and visual scientists in Hong Kong and Mainland China, is committed to advancing patient service, research, training and education to the highest possible standard in all major areas of ophthalmology and visual sciences. Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in computer science, engineering, applied mathematics or related field; (ii) proficiency in English; (iii) good written and verbal communication and skills; (iv) keen interest in research work in the field of ophthalmology and visual sciences. Preference will be given to those applicants who have (1) strong computational skills in artificial intelligence/machine learning, computer vision, or image processing; and (2) proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ and Python. Experience with deep learning or analytic tools (such as R, SAS, Matlab or SPSS) is bonus.
Duties include (a) coordinating and overseeing research projects related to ocular imaging together with PI and the team; (b) developing and validating artificial intelligence/machine learning algorithms; (c) developing methods for image pre-processing and standardization; (d) merging tree-based classification model with other clinical data and algorithm testing; and (e) statistical analysis and manuscript preparation.
Appointment will be made on contract basis for one to two year(s) initially (with contract-end gratuity for a two-year contract) commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
