Postdoctoral Fellow/Senior Research Assistant/Research Assistant in the Department of Linguistics and Translation
Project : Automatic Generation of Exercises for Learning Chinese
The Project aims to exploit language technology and natural language processing techniques to develop a mobile app for learners of Chinese as a foreign language. This app will offer personalized exercises for learning Chinese vocabulary and grammar at different proficiency levels.
Duties : Implement efficient algorithms to dynamically generate exercises from large text corpora.
The appointment will be for 12 months.
Requirements : A good honours degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or related disciplines, with 1 year’s experience. Experience in natural language processing and mobile technology on Android would be an advantage.
Candidates with a PhD and no more than 3 years’ postdoctoral experience may be considered for appointment as Postdoctoral Fellow.
Candidates with a Master’s degree and 1 year’s post-qualification working experience may be considered for appointment as Senior Research Assistant.

Salary and Conditions of Service
Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
