Product Technical Manager

A major British retailer are looking for a Product Technical Manager to join their team. Knowledge of quality management systems are essential.

Key accountabilities and measures

  • Factory sign off for Quality Management Systems and Product Safety Systems.
  • New Supplier management (may include technical induction and technical systems training for suppliers)
  • Screening of Tech briefing packs prior to sampling
  • Sample screening
  • Rack samples approval
  • Pre-production reviews prior Contract Seal submission
  • First off the line (rack sample) product reviews
  • Upgrading of Supplier Performance – monitor progress on improvements & data base maintenance
  • Issue management
  • Provide local sourcing expertise
  • Support Non-direct business (indirect/importers)
  • Conduct assignments at the discretion of Senior Quality Manager


  • Sound technical and quality background in Clothing and Textiles, preferable a degree in relevant disciplines
  • 8+ years working experience in a related field, preferably for the UK / European market
  • Willing to travel
  • Independent, motivated and be a team player
  • Knowledge of pattern, garment fittings and quality systems processes is a must
  • Familiar with the UK Retail industry & or European garment buying processes
  • Computer Skills – Familiar with MS Office and internet
  • Ability to build strong relationships with technologists and the buying in the UK and suppliers in country
  • Excellent communication skills in English are required, and Good level of both written & spoken Putonghua considered advantageous
  • An audit qualification (ISO 9000 / SA8000 / ISO 14000) would be preferred, although not mandatory
