Position Summary:

The successful applicants will have a passion and demonstrated ability to teach Early Childhood Education courses. Expertise in the area of children with special needs is desirable. For appointment made at the professorial track, in addition to teaching duties, appointees are also expected to undertake research.

Furthermore, based on the rank of the position, appointees are expected to provide academic leadership in managing both the BEdECE (Hons) and HDECE programmes, including mentoring junior academic colleagues in teaching and research.

Requirements:
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
Professor Rank

A relevant Doctoral degree;

A distinguished record of teaching, educational management, curriculum design and development in Higher Education;

Significant contribution and international reputation in high quality scholarship and research;

Demonstrated academic leadership; and

Experience as a practitioner, teaching non-native speakers of English and having a strong local and international network within the ECE sector would be advantageous.

Associate Professor Rank

A relevant Doctoral degree;

Substantial experience (preferably not less than 8 years) in teaching, educational management and curriculum design and development in Higher Education;

A good record of research and publications; and

Experience as a practitioner, teaching non-native speakers of English and having a strong network within the ECE sector would be advantageous.

Assistant Professor Rank

A relevant Doctoral degree;

Teaching experience in Higher Education or substantial industrial experience; and

Research experience with a record of publications.

Experience as a practitioner is advantageous.

Senior Lecturer Rank

A relevant Doctoral degree or comparable professional qualifications;

At least 5 years’ full-time teaching, curriculum design and development experience at post-secondary level or comparable industrial experience;

Substantial programme or relevant academic management experience; and

Active participation in scholarly and research activities.

Lecturer Rank

A Master’s degree in relevant discipline; and

At least 3 years’ full-time teaching, curriculum design and development experience at post-secondary level or comparable industrial experience; and

Active participation in scholarly activities.

Assistant Lecturer Rank

A Master’s degree in relevant discipline;

Preferably some teaching experience at post-secondary level; or comparable industrial experience.

Salary and Fringe Benefits:
Appointment will be made on fixed-term contracts commencing July 2018 (or as soon as possible afterwards) for full-time positions, renewable subject to performance and mutual agreement.

Remuneration is competitive and will be based on qualifications and relevant experience. The College offers group medical insurance, staff development support, research grant, annual leave and sick leave, and Mandatory Provident Fund to eligible appointee(s).

Important notes to Applicants:
The College plans to move to a new campus (2 Tin Wan Hill Road, Tin Wan, Aberdeen, Hong Kong) around summer 2018.

After the approval of the upgrade of the current College to the new degree-granting College, staff will be migrated to the new College.

Applicants will have to undergo a Sexual Conviction Record Check before appointment can be confirmed.

Appointees will be required to undergo a teacher registration process with the Education Bureau. In order to complete this process, applicants with overseas qualifications will have to go through qualification assessment to be conducted by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation and Vocational Qualifications. The costs for the qualification assessment will be borne by the appointees.
