Project Engineer - Asia Pacific

 The Job:

  • Work in the engineering department to manage capital investment and improvement projects from conceptual design through commissioning and start-up;
  • Coordinate with different groups and stakeholders to facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables;
  • Develop project plan including project deliverables, cost estimate, timeline and resource allocation;
  • Prepare documents including project proposal, strategic project brief, project charter, project scope and product specifications and obtain approval for the project;
  • Work with Supply Chain to develop bids, review proposals, select contractors and initiate project contracts;
  • Manage the capital budget, contractor activity and safety;
  • Participate in all aspects of process safety throughout the project life cycle including PHA (Process Hazards Analysis), safety evaluation, and PSSW (Pre-Startup Safety Walkthrough);
  • Manage equipment installation, develop and execute equipment commissioning plans and support project start-ups;
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing operations and perform other related and assigned duties as necessary and in support of business demands;
  • Frequent travel within the Asia Pacific region is required.

 The Person:

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or equivalent;
  • At least 6 years of project engineering management experience in the manufacturing industry;
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of engineering design and its application in manufacturing, including specification of mechanical systems, vacuum systems, pneumatics and controls;
  • Proven ability to manage capital equipment projects on time and on budget;
  • Proven track record in the application of fundamental engineering principles;
  • Strong in process engineering and safety ethics;
  • Excellent communications skills in English, Cantonese and Putonghua;
  • Strong decision-making and problem solving skills;
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Word, MS Project, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Knowledge of ACAD and PLC control systems is highly desirable;
  • Familiarity with NFPA codes and OSHA standards is a plus;
  • Ability to develop conceptual Process Flowsheets (PFDs) layouts and Equipment Diagrams.
