CENTRE FOR HOLISTIC TEACHING AND LEARNING (CHTL)

CHTL works in partnership with academic colleagues to foster continuous quality learning and teaching at HKBU. It aims to reinforce the student-centred, whole-person and outcome-oriented ethos of learning and teaching in the University. Within its remits, CHTL plays an active role in supporting Teaching Development Grants (TDG) projects, Community of Practice (CoP) initiatives, special projects on learning and teaching innovations, as well as assists the University in evidence collection for Whole Person Education through assessment of students’ attainment of the University’s Graduate Attributes.

Project Officer / Assistant Project Officer (PR0024/19-20) 

Position 1: The appointee will be responsible for (a) transforming learning materials to video scripts, or adapting video scripts for better presentation on video; (b) providing support to teaching staff on instructional video production; (c) filming and post-production of instructional and documentary videos related to teaching and learning; (d) producing animations, graphics and other visual aids for the videos, and (if necessary) graphics and layouts for websites as well as digital and printed materials such as booklets, leaflets and posters for the Centre; and (e) undertaking other duties as assigned by the supervisors. 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in a relevant discipline, preferably in Computer Science, Creative Media, Educational Technology, Graphic Design, Instructional Design and Media Art;
  • at least two years of relevant post-qualification experience in design and production of videos for educational purpose; 
  • skills in video shooting and in one or more of the following software packages: Premiere Pro, After Effect, Photoshop and Illustrator;
  • good command of English and Chinese (Cantonese or Putonghua);
  • good communication, problem-solving and analytical skills;
  • be attentive to details; and
  • knowledge of the current English and/or Mathematics curricula in Hong Kong secondary schools will be an advantage.

Position 2: The appointee will be responsible for (a) providing instructional design for a project promoting flipped learning while working closely with teachers and/or subject matter experts; (b) supporting other teaching and learning projects at CHTL by consolidating research findings and writing documents and papers for reporting and academic publication; (c) performing educational research and data analysis (if necessary); and (d) undertaking other duties as assigned by the supervisors.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in a relevant discipline, preferably in Instructional Design, Language Studies, Science, Social Sciences and Statistics;
  • at least two years of relevant post-qualification experience;
  • competence in using analytic tools such as SPSS and NVivo and proven track record of implementing flipped learning particularly at junior secondary level, qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, and compiling academic reports and papers will be an advantage;
  • excellent command of English and Chinese (Cantonese or Putonghua);
  • good communication, problem-solving and analytical skills; and
  • be proactive, well-organised, detail-minded and have a strong sense of responsibility.


Initial appointment of both positions will be made on a fixed-term contract of one to two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement.

Commensurate with qualification / relevant experience, the appointees will carry the functional title of Instructional Designer or Assistant Instructional Designer.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
