Principal Purpose of the position:


This is a 2 year contract position as Project officer in the Ocean Conservation Team assigned to coordinate the Marine Litter project reporting to the Manager , Oceans Conservation with goals to (1) empower society to be more proactive in solving the marine litter problem through a community-based approach that builds capacity and implements demonstration projects (2) encourage the diving community to become citizen scientists to help understand the ghost net problem (3) develop corporate engagement strategies and programme to reduce waste generation and facilitate a circular economy (4) facilitate the exchange with NGOs and community groups in Greater Bay Area to increase knowledge of marine litter issues and build overall capacity to solve marine litter problems at source.



  • Coordinate smooth delivery of the marine litter project and it’s activities including organising field trips, workshops, meetings, training workshops, seminars and facilitation of expert talks
  • Plan and develop scope and strategies for various surveys with citizen science methodologies
  • Process and manage the information collected from various surveys into research reports
  • Coordinate with ICT team on the selection / design of a Ghost Net App to support the mapping of Ghost nets in Hong Kong and the Region
  • Formulate a communications plan for the project activities and work with CDS team on the design of a project webpage
  • Assist in the engagement activities with various stakeholders under the project
  • Closely support and monitor the progress of community projects


  • Degree holder in conservation-related discipline
  • Passionate and knowledgeable in environmental issues and current affairs on plastics in oceans
  • A team player with good organizing, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-minded, well-organized, highly-motivated and positive thinker with a ‘can-do’ attitude
  • 3 years of relevant working experience with organizing and guiding outdoor activities programmes
  • First aid, driving license, scuba diving license and lifesaving certificate would be an added benefit
  • Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (preferably with Putonghua)
  • Proficient in computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and preferably on statistical analysis
  • Work involes field research and outdoor and outreach activities normally working office hours on weekdays and would be required to work Saturdays and Sundays, as and when necessary

We offer a 5-day work week and competitive compensation and benefits packages to the right candidate. The office location of this post is at our Kwai Hing office (near MTR station). The renewal / extension of appointment will be subject to organizational needs and job performance reviewed 6 months before the contract ends.
