AJC International

This position is accountable for generating profitable purchases to assigned destination regions according

to budget. This is accomplished by maintaining current supplier accounts, generating new supplier

accounts and increasing business to current suppliers.

Working location Hong Kong Office

Scope of Responsibility

Handles designated supply base (as assigned)

  • Maintains daily contact with designated suppliers, collects offers on product available.
  • Direct and lead supplier negotiations
  • Targets our share of purchases and monitors results.
  • Maintains records of producer/profile.
  • Monitors competitors’ activities with these suppliers.
  • Makes personal plant visits.
  • Develops personal relationships with various industry representatives.

Handles designated destination region


  • Understands destination regions business and usage of products we sell; knows our share and competitors.
  • Maintains frequent contact with selling traders
  • Generates desired gross profit in total and per region
  • Maintains clears records of information vital to relationship.
  • Visits destination markets (as necessary).

Is expertly knowledgeable about products handled


  • Knows the items, processing methods, specific characteristics.
  • Knows customer/market requirements.
  • Involved in establishing quality control standards and procedures.
  • Understands relationships among different parts with regards to pricing, availability, marketing alternatives.
  • Detects and identifies market trends, seasonal influences.
  • Works on developing new and proprietary products.

Is expertly knowledgeable about contract Costs, Conditions, and Documents

  • Understands AJC costing system.
  • Maintains reference of applicable rates.
  • Knows all possible transportation alternatives origin to destination .

Manages Risk

  • Position trading within established limits and liquidating practices.
  • Responsible for fully specifying product and contract terms at time of purchase in writing to avoid disputes and claims.
  • Participates in negotiating claims.
  • Prudently negotiates long-term contracts limiting exposure.
  • Assists in contract discrepancies and payments to suppliers

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing or a closely related business field
  • 3+ years experience in international frozen food imports/exports industry
  • Candidate with more experience will be considered as Senior Purchaser/Purchasing Manager
