The Role
The role will be responsible for the effective sourcing of products and suppliers (food and non-food) to meet quality, brand values and close control and management of the Purchasing & Supply Chain operations to ensure the best possible service is delivered to Pret shops.

The role is responsible for the supplier or product sourcing and product costing of all food and non-food product areas. This person is the in-charge of the day to day management of the end to end Purchasing & Supply Chain locally. This role manages suppliers and product range/change, all supply and product costs of both local and imported, as well as, to monitor the costs of food, non-food and logistics and to and to prepare monthly KPI and financial reporting.

Sourcing & Negotiations

  • Sourcing suppliers for both food and non-food products
  • Identifying, selecting and developing suppliers who can meet Pret’s current and future needs
  • Arranging quality audits once a year for all key suppliers
  • Delivering cost of food and cost of goods improvements
  • Negotiating costs with suppliers that will meet budget, delivering the best financial deal for Pret, while achieving a sustainable relationship with the supplier.
  • Constantly working with suppliers to search for efficiencies that will improve Pret’s cost of food whilst respecting Pret quality standards and specifications.
  • Proactively monitoring cost prices that Pret pays and regularly benchmarking these to ensure Pret’s prices are competitive
  • Keeping abreast of market changes that could impact on costs and future strategic purchasing e.g. commodity and currency market movements
  • Negotiating over-riders / rebates with relevant suppliers and ensuring that records are updated and monies invoiced quarterly or annually (dependent on individual agreements)

Supplier Management

  • Managing the supplier partnership relationship
  • Holding regular review meetings with key suppliers to ensure that all aspects of the supplier’s relationship with Pret meets the standards required
  • Managing the supply base to ensure that any potential risks to the supply of products are identified and that contingencies are put into effect to mitigate these
  • Ensuring suppliers meet availability requirements. This requires the management of existing suppliers and ensuring that new suppliers have effective logistic plans in place to meet Pret requirements

Stock and Supply Management

  • Working with Pret’s nominated distributor and suppliers to ensure full stock availability on time and in full
  • Monitoring actual demand and take action to increase/decrease orders and stocks to ensure availability and optimum stock holding
  • Managing imports and all associated costs
  • Planning
  • Working with Food & Coffee team to contribute towards the creation of the annual plans. This will include product plans, supplier strategy document and budget.
  • Delivering product plans and supplier strategy, and specifically to ensure delivery of the launch schedule and target cost of goods
  • Forecasting and liaising with suppliers to communicate changes within agreed lead times according to New Product Launch schedule.

Range Management and NPD

  • Continually reviewing sales/profit/contribution and wastage figures of products so to identify opportunities for improvement or where appropriate recommend delist
  • Making range recommendations based on product performance against plans.
  • Working with Food & Coffee team to carry out range reviews and effective execution of food innovation and seasonal launch plans


Skills and experience

  • At least 3 years’ experience in managing an end to end supply chain (supplier to shop/restaurant) in a food retail or QSR organisation
  • Strong commercial awareness, analytical, Negotiation, Project management, financial management
  • Good understanding of purchasing processes and practices in a fast-moving retail/service organization
  • Initiative and ability to work without supervision, ability to work under pressure and to prioritise, experience of cross functional working
