Quality Control Director - Asia

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related discipline is required
  • Minimum of 10 years or above experience in a quality management position preferably in a consumer products field
  • Working knowledge of quality systems (SPC, 6-sigma, lean manufacturing ISO9000)
  • Experience in international Standards such as ASTM, CPSC, EN, CSA CPSIA, NOCSAE ISO
  • Working knowledge of SAP (PLM systems a plus)
  • Excellent proficiency with all Microsoft Office products and other standard applications
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin both spoken and written (Cantonese and Taiwanese a plus)
  • Ability to drive QC strategies and is proactive in looking for new innovations that will enhance the business within the region 
  • Proven track record of continuous improvements in the areas of product QC and vendor quality systems 
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with a talent for presenting ideas to business partners to help them think differently about ways to improve
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to lead establish and maintain effective working relationships with numerous departments and employees
  • Strong organizational, project management, multi-tasking and task prioritization skills
  • Self-motivated and self-directed with the ability to work with little supervision
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
Job Duties:
  • Ensures smooth operations of the QC organization in the region (covering Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam & China) acting as the contact point with the business owners to align the QC operation with business strategies and objectives. Drive new concepts provide proactive establishment of QC programs, and drive process improvement and change management to critical vendors. This position will be the focal point and "face of quality" for the Asia operations of the Action Sports Division of outdoor supporting the brands
  • Develop and implement plans to change the direction of the regional QC team into a proactive organization which builds quality at the vendor level and reduce the reliance on final QC inspections
  • Provide proactive establishment of QC programs, drive new concepts for the regional QC organization, and initiate process improvements 
  • Develop metrics for vendor quality performance monitoring and provide and implement improvement plans based on performance metrics
  • Develop processes and procedures to optimize the performance and efficiency of the regional QC activities
  • Defines the QC objectives for the region in line with global QC objective
  • Responsible for the QC team in the region covering Hong Kong, Taiwan Vietnam & China for QC related tasks to ensure products meet and exceed specifications
  • Monitors regional vendors to ensure they meet social responsibility and quality compliance standards set by the global QA team
  • Responsibility for products leaving regional factories to meet regulated substance requirements set by the global QA team
  • Manage QC corrective action activities for vendors, products and processes to ensure effective and timely resolution
  • Responsible for weekly QC status updates, weekly QC projects tracking and yearly QC budgeting for the region
  • Defines the goals for direct reports at the beginning of the year together with global QA management and make quarterly as well as yearly review
