Summary/purpose of the position:

This position leads the accounting teams in designated locations of Greenpeace East Asia, ensuring that the ledgers are kept in line with internal policies, while complying with all relevant tax, accounting and external reporting regulations. Through managing effectively these teams, the Regional Finance Manager provides the senior management with an accurate and timely picture on the financial resources and assets the organisation.

The scope of this job covers not only coordinating functions such as book keeping, treasury and banking, accounts payable and receivable, year-end external and internal audit processes, but also includes contributing to craft finance policies, give trainings to staff on financial matters and lead the processes to obtain governmental fund permits and report back on them as per applicable local guidelines.



  • Ensure that internal controls and best-practice procedures are in place, and that all receipts and payments are controlled according to existing authorisation procedures and policies.
  • Coordinate timely cash flow forecast to optimise the cash and treasury management, propose capital and funding alternatives for the needs identified in the annual budget.
  • Oversee the preparation of statutory accounts in compliance with the disclosure requirements, accounting standards and local tax laws. Support the year-end audit and tax reviews and preparing the related documentation.
  • Provide an effective and responsible leadership role for all line managed staff, through inspiring and encouraging them to be diligent and innovative in all aspects of their work.
  • Liaise on all financial matters involving Greenpeace International and other Greenpeace entities, such as interoffice accounts, recharges, and global projects.



  • BA degree holder in Accounting, Finance or related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of experience in similar finance manager role. Not having a university degree but instead a technical diploma in accounting is acceptable too, as long as candidates have at least 10-years of experience in the field.
  • Knowledge in China GAAP would be a plus. ACCA certificate is preferred.
  • Strong analytic skills and leadership abilities.
  • Knowledge and experience in MS Excel and accounting systems.
  • Works in a standard office environment, and is frequently required to travel to other Greenpeace offices or locations.
  • Interest in NGOs, environmental protection, and identification with Greenpeace goals and supportive of Greenpeace values.
