Research and Event Management Support Officer (1 year contract, work in Govt office)

  • To provide guided tours to groups visiting museum and the exhibitions therein, and conduct the tours in English, Cantonese or Mandarin
  • To assist in conducting research on items selected for exhibitions, public programmes and setting up of an on-line database
  • To assist in drafting text for exhibitions, publicity materials and the on-line database
  • To assist in editing and proofreading texts such as exhibition panels, e-news, leaflets, website, etc.
  • To provide liaison and logistic support for the events and public programmes, duties include co-ordinate with the organisers / contractors to oversee the setup of the event, monitor the operations of the event, perform crowd and admission control as well as implement all necessary measure to ensure public safety, etc.
  • To assist Assistant Curator to set up and operate a mobile museum
  • To perform any other duties as assigned by the senior officer


  • A bachelor’s degree from a local university, or equivalent; with a major/ minor in Anthropology / Archaeology / Cultural Management / Cultural Studies / Curatorship / Ethnography / History / Humanities / Museum Studies, or equivalent
  • A minimum of 2 years’ post qualification full-time working experience with good job records. Solid experience of working in museum or cultural institutes is preferred
  • Level 3 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the HKDSE
  • Fluency in spoken Cantonese, English and Mandarin and a good command of written Chinese and English
  • Good knowledge in practical computer skills, e.g. MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, ability to design web page is preferred
  • Ability to work independently and systematically
  • Ability to present comfortably to large audiences
  • Ability to interact with the general public
  • Patient, careful and responsible manners
