The appointee will mainly provide research support to a project entitled “C for Chinese @JC" funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. This project aims to foster Chinese learning in multicultural children and to facilitate the early integration of multicultural children into the local education system and the community so we focus on developing and training of four groups of practitioners: social service professionals, school leaders, educators, and multicultural teaching assistants.
The appointee will be responsible for conducting literature review, data collection including administering questionnaires to teachers and other project participants and conducting interviews; transcribing qualitative data and performing qualitative and statistical data analysis; taking minutes, and drafting manuscripts as well as reports. They will be required to liaise with kindergartens, teachers and participants of the project; supervise part-time student helpers; and perform any other duties as assigned. The appointment will be for a period of 12 months with the possibility of renewal subject to mutual agreement.
Applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Psychology or other related disciplines, preferably with relevant post-qualification full-time working experience. They should have a good organizational, interpersonal as well as communication skills. They should have be adept at multi-tasking, and demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as a good team player. Applicants should have high proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese. Knowledge in computer applications (e.g. Excel, Access, Chinese work processing) and SPSS statistical analysis is essential. Knowledge of NVIVO is highly desirable. Experience in academic research would be an advantage.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
