Risk Consultant

  • Maintain close relationship with the business and lead all activity required in ensuring the accuracy of the output from the Management Awareness of Risks (MARs) process (entailing risk identification, assessment, controls, monitoring and reporting).
  • Coordinate SLHK Leadership Team (LT) members to implement relevant regulatory changes and establish appropriate ongoing risk management processes and controls.
  • Collaborate with the risk teams and the SLHK LT to produce management reports of forward looking risks and assist the Chief Risk Officer by leading on the work required to implement the risk management policies, procedures and control assessments in response to identified risks.
  • Lead all activity in the preparation of the Hong Kong Enterprise Risk Management Committee, which will include scheduling meeting dates with international & domestic parties, preparing risk papers & agendas, consolidating meeting packs, writing minutes, arranging for venues & conference facilities, and keeping central filing of documents.
  • Lead all activity in the preparation of the relevant risk related papers for the SLA Audit Committee and SLA Board as appropriate.
  • Perform risk assurance reviews for topics in the Risk Assurance Monitoring Plan, and/or other ad-hoc topics as and when required.
  • Assist the Chief Risk Officer to implement the corporate governance requirement. This encompasses the system of governance and other regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Under the supervision of the Chief Risk Officer, perform evaluation of the effectiveness of the company's internal control framework in addressing risks and accomplishing the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Provide training and technical support to Standard Life (Asia) (SLA) regarding risk management strategies, system and processes. Include acting as ORAC administrator and maintenance of HK risk events, risk register & KPIs.
  • Coordinate and work with the SLHK LT team and other Risk Functions to implement and embed group enterprise risk management programs and tools in the Hong Kong business.
  • Keep abreast of regulatory changes and the impact they could have on SLA business.
 
Qualifications
  • University graduate with past background in risk management, legal & compliance or audit.
  • Have knowledge of Financial Services legislation and regulation along with a general understanding of the operations of Asia, UK and International Life Assurance companies.
  • Previous experience working in a Operational Risk role within Financial Services is desirable.
  • Working in an environment where priorities, issues and schedules are constantly changing, the jobholder must have a high degree of flexibility and adaptability.
  • Dealing with business sensitive and highly confidential matters.
  • Demonstrable ability in balancing risk and business development and have good judgment of issues and risk.
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills; confidence and ability to interview people at all levels of the organization.
  • Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.
