Sales Engineer - Industrial


Key Accountabilities
Engine Order Matters
  • Carry out order processing of standard projects.
  • Issue purchase order to MTU-FN and internal sales order to involved departments.
  • Liaison with Order Processing personnel to prepare sales invoices, customs invoices, proforma invoices, packing lists, delivery notes, etc. for the engine orders.
  • Liaison with Finance and Accounting Dept. for the issue of Banker’s guarantee, performance bonds, downpayment guarantee, etc. which are required in the engine orders.
  • Advise and discuss with Order Processing personnel for each Letter of Credit issued by the customers before the shipments.
  • Liaison with Order Processing personnel for the Letter of Credit negotiation.
  • Co-ordinate with Product Support Team of China Operations to conduct commodity inspection, commissioning, EPQ, Sign-off test, etc. until the engines are handed over to customers.
  • Follow up short-supplies and/or short shipments of engine orders.
  • Co-ordinate with After Sales Teams of China Operations to provide after sales services to customers.
Project Matters
  • Coordinate with application engineering team of MTU-Asia/FN and China Operations for standard projects, if necessary (projects up to series 4000, project responsibility by MTU-HK / distributor).
  • Coordinate with the application engineering team of MTU-Asia/FN for non-standard projects (Non-standard projects up to series 4000, project responsibility by MTU-Asia / MTU-HK and technical responsibility by MTU-Asia).
  • Coordinates the liaison to MTU-FN application centers for complex projects (Project responsibility by MTU-Asia, technical responsibility by MTU-FN).
Application Engineering Matters
  • With support from the application engineering teams of MTU-Asia/FN and China Operations, provide the Application Engineering support to the Engine Sales inquiries and to the customers.
  • Provide the technical specifications and define the scope of supply for the equipment.
  • Provide and maintain the product and application information.
  • Prepare and carry out technical presentations.
Sales Matters
  • Assist Senior Sales Managers to develop, schedule, coordinate and evaluate sales activities for customers (up to putting into commissioning of the product) within the assigned region.
  • Cooperate with application engineering teams of MTU-Asia/FN and China Operations to deal and follow up projects and sales orders technically and commercially.
  • Prepare and update records of potential customers.
  • Prepare data for sales and country reports.
Other Matters
  • Attend training course to upgrade the knowledge to meet requirements of the job functions and as part of the personal development.
  • Back up support in the Department.
  • Any other assignment from time to time
Qualifications and experience
Key Experiences and any Qualifications
  • Diploma / Degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years experience with diesel engines / generator sales
  • To be prepared for frequent regional travel
  • Good analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Possess initiative and ability to work independently
  • Proficient in English and Chinese Language, both in oral & writing
