Senior Associate, Corporate Actuarial


Position Overview

Reporting to the Executive Director, Corporate Actuarial, the successful candidate will be responsible for US GAAP financial reporting, actuarial oversight in areas of practice like experience studies, embedded value reporting and risk management. The department drives various high profile corporate endeavors that will provide the candidate with board exposure to a “big picture view" of the enterprise, including the opportunity to learn about and contribute to emerging corporate initiatives.

  • Production and analysis of the quarterly US GAAP results and annual business plan;
  • Reporting of Earnings by Source (EBS) on a quarterly basis to management;
  • Review of local statutory and embedded value bases;
  • Modeling of key business on in house valuation system or AXIS;
  • Become an active member in a system migration project of the valuation models;
  • Compliance controls and audit checks on the valuation data and bases;
  • Perform experience studies and analysis on current inforce business; and
  • Assist Regional Valuation on risk management issues.

  • Newly qualified fellows or associate with 3 to 5 years’ working experience in life insurance/reinsurance companies; hands on experience with GAAP reporting and Hong Kong statutory reporting;
  • Prophet modeling experience is preferred and a strong understanding of Excel, VBA and SQL;
  • Strong analytical, data management skills, work attitudes to details and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; and
  • Highly motivated, conceptual thinker who is able to collaborate in a team environment or work independently and take a leadership role in a wide variety of assignments.
