Objectives of the role

The Senior Financial Analyst  role will manage SMARTECH Business Systems Hong Kong company funds, financial analysis in such areas as forecasting, budgeting, engaging in cost reduction analysis, and reviewing operational performance.

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  2. Forecast cash flow positions, cash flow analysis outlook for 6 months, related borrowing needs, and available funds for operational management
  3. Ensure that sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements
  4. Oversee the operations of the cash management, treasury functions, corporate governance functions.
  5. Maintain banking relationships
  6. Assist in determining the company's proper capital structure
  7. Arrange for equity and debt financing as and when required
  8. Recommend appropriate dividend issuances, based on historical dividend patterns and expected cash flows
  9. Responsible for performing the day- to-day general ledger accounting, financial reporting and analysis for assigned functional areas.
  10. Research and resolve Business Unit(s) inquiries for assigned functional areas.
  11. Routine communication with Service Managers, Sales Managers and Supply Chain Managers  relating to financial close, issues and deliverables.
  12. Responsible for month-end, quarter-end and year-end close for assigned functional areas:
  13. Research and prepare variance analysis and explanations.
  14. Complete and submit Consolidation & Reporting Deliverables.
  15. Responsible for the preparation and analysis of the regular periodic management reporting of financial results for assigned functional areas:
  16. Submission of financial results to consolidation & Reporting Deliverables.
  17. Prepare all Financial Reporting requirements package.
  18. Perform Balance Sheet account reconciliations, account analysis, accrual calculations, and other related accounting documents/schedules.
  19. Prepare journal entries related to assigned functional responsibilities.
  20. Responsible for performing special projects to improve process efficiency and performance.
  21. Cross train as back-ups for other staff in the case of emergencies.
  22. Review and research accounting transactions for functional.
  23. Prepare foreign currency transactions analysis and its impact on financial results.

 

 Tax Management

  • Prepare reporting packages:  Corporate; Tax; GST/Hong Kong filings/audits, where applicable; Audit Engagement Schedules.
  • Calculate withholding tax receipts for Corporate Tax.

Budgeting

  1. Manage the preparation of the company's annual budget
  2. Report to management on variances from the established budget, and the reasons for those variances
  3. Assist management in the formulation of its overall strategic direction

Financial Analysis

  1. Engage in ongoing cost reduction analyses in all areas of the company
  2. Review the performance of competitors and report on key issues to management
  3. Engage in benchmarking studies to establish areas of potential operational improvement
  4. Interpret the company's financial results to management and recommend improvement activities
  5. Review company bottlenecks and recommend changes to improve the overall level of company throughput
  6. Participate in target costing activities to create products that meeting predetermined price goals
  7. Assist in the determination of product pricing in relation to features offered and competitor pricing
  8. Compile key business metrics and report on them to management
  9. Manage the capital budgeting process, based on constraint analysis and discounted cash flow analysis
  10. Create additional analyses and reports as requested by management

 

Additional Key Accountabilities:

  1. Oversee the extension of credit to customers
  2. Reduction of the cash cycle conversion
  3. Reduction of aged debtors

Desired Qualifications: The Senior Finance Analyst should have a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in finance or accounting, or equivalent business experience and 5+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation.  Preference will be given to candidates with the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations. Excellent communication skills are essential, particularly in regard to presenting the results of analyses to management. Should have an outstanding knowledge of electronic spreadsheets.
