(a) To conduct classes and practical training in bakery and pastry;
(b) To assist in development of programme curriculum and teaching, learning and assessment materials;
(c) To assist in the supervision and management of staff and resources; preparation of financial estimates and training statistics and maintenance of student and related records;
(d) To carry out duties in relation to student and academic administration, including to assisting in recruitment and placement of students;
(e) To oversee the procurement, maintenance and commissioning of plants and equipment of the Section;
(f) To perform duties related to the effective running of training programmes and the daily operations of Training Kitchens; and
(g) To liaise with counterparts in the industry and related associations.
(a) A recognized higher diploma in the discipline of Hotel and/or Catering Management, Culinary Arts, or equivalent, and preferably a qualification in Certified Pastry Cook Certificate;
(b) At least 6 years’ relevant work or teaching experience in hotel / catering industry;
(c) Proven supervisory experience and administrative abilities;
(d) Good communication and presentation skills in both English and Chinese, knowledge of Putonghua is preferable;
(e) Good knowledge of basic computer applications; and
(f) Ability to pass a trade test.
(1) Candidates without the required academic qualifications stated in (a) above but possessing 12 years’ work or teaching experience in the relevant industry may also apply. Where applicable, these candidates may be required to have a Qualifications Framework (QF) Level 3 qualification.
(2) Candidates will be considered for the post of Instructor if (i) with a recognized higher diploma in the relevant discipline and at least 3 years’ work or teaching experience in the relevant industry, or (ii) without a relevant recognized higher diploma but possessing 8 years’ work or teaching experience in the relevant industry. Where applicable, these candidates may be required to have a Qualifications Framework (QF) Level 3 qualification.
(3) The appointee will be required to perform duties outside normal office hours, work on shift over a full 7-day period and in designated places as assigned.
(4) In support of the Sexual Conviction Record Check (SCRC) Scheme launched by the Hong Kong Police Force, all prospective appointees will be requested to undergo the SCRC at the advanced stage of the employment process.
