Job Description:

Canadian Solar is seeking a mid-level (5  years PQE above) attorney with transactional experience to join its Hong Kong office as a Senior Counsel.  The ideal candidate will have experience in the solar or other renewable power generation industry across various countries and regions, and be a confident self-starter with strong interpersonal and organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to effectively provide sound legal advice, exercise good business judgment, and work with senior management, outside counsel, customers and regulators. This is a full-time position requiring an on-site presence to support the corporate and business unit management team.



  • Provide legal advice on regulatory, general corporate, commercial, real estate and employment law matters in various countries and regions in Asia and assist in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Negotiate and draft distribution and supply agreements, sales agreements, construction and subcontractor agreements, EPC and O&M agreements, loan and security agreements, interconnection agreements, site leases, and joint venture agreements.
  • Assist with all aspects of project financings (e.g., performing due diligence, forming SPVs, negotiating and drafting project documents, obtaining environmental permitting and other regulatory compliance, etc.)
  • Assist with M&A and investment activities.
  • Coordinate and supervise outside counsel.



  • At least five years of PQE experience as a transactional attorney at a top local or international law firm or in-house legal department at a large multinational company.
  • Strong academic credentials from a top law school and licensed to practice law in one of the major jurisdictions such as England, Hong Kong, state of the U.S., etc.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong project management and analytical skills.
  • Knowledgeable and enthusiastic about renewable energy industry.
  • Strong drafting and negotiating experience.
  • English language proficiency a must; Chinese language skills a plus, but not strictly required.
