Senior Linuxs systems engineer

Our client is seeking a senior Linux system engineers who is experienced with Websphere/MQ and related Middleware. The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years working experience with this software stack, capable of problem determination and deal with performance/tuning issues.

We would love to hear from you if you you are articulate and enjoys working in a team environment. The role covers installation/maintenance/support/performance tuning and dealing with development users and problem determination. Managing on-going issues with developers and vendors.

Our client is a major local bank with strong global connection. We offer an initially a 12-month contract with potential for extension. A competitive wage is being offered to the suitable candidate.

You are expected to

  • carry out product installation and administration according to standards,
  • take part in troubleshooting/problem determination,
  • participate in a  roster providing out of office hours support for production issues 
  • work closely with application teams and provide consultancy services and technical advice.

To be successful, you should meet the following requirements:

  • University graduate or equivalent
  • Competent skills with relevant working experience
  • A self-motivated team player with good project management skills
  • Able to think “outside the box” and excel in meeting technical challenges
  • Good communication skills with ability to build and maintain relationships at different levels
  • Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines and be prepared to work occasionally during out of office hours, including weekend days and nights
