Reporting to the Associate Director - Project Development, we are looking for a high caliber professional to join the Renewable Energy team in Group Operations, CLP Holdings.

Working with the Renewable Energy team, the appointee will be responsible for providing technical support and oversight for renewable energy projects throughout the APAC region. This role requires initiative and expert leadership in developing specialist processes across the Development, Construction and Operations lifecycle.

The successful candidate will be required to perform detailed analysis to optimize renewable energy projects. This will involve strong technical and commercial leadership of project managers, developers and engineers who are located within CLP's Group Operations and Regional Business Units("RBU").

Major duties:

  • Lead and co-ordinate Group Operation's involvement in technical and commercial due-diligence work lead by the RBUs for development projects and acquisition opportunities with values of up to 500 million USD.
  • Define and provide the final decision on the yield assessment approach for Renewable Energy greenfield and acquisition opportunities proposed by the RBUs.  Ensure that the energy yield assessments for all Renewable Energy projects submitted to IC for approval have been determined in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Renewable Energy Centre of Excellence: Energy Yield.
  • Lead the Renewable Energy Centre of Excellence: Energy Yield to define relevant CLP standards, and support energy yield assessment initiatives, to give the Investment Committee confidence in the energy yield assessments prepared for projects. Each centre of excellence comprises multiple experts across 4 geographic regions.
  • Lead the Renewable Energy Centre of Excellence: KPI and Reporting to define the Key Performance Indicators and reporting process for CLP Renewable Energy assets.
  • Involvement in evaluations of renewable energy innovations (e.g. new equipment and technology) that could enhance CLP's capability and competitiveness.
  • Assess vendors (e.g. EPC, OEMs, suppliers, consultants, etc.) being considered on CLP renewable energy projects.
  • Mentor and support less experienced engineers and managers in Group Operations on renewable energy subjects.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of latest technical development in the renewable energy industry.

Requirements:

  • A recognized university degree in engineering, meteorology, mathematics, physics or related discipline. Professional Engineer, Chartered Engineer or equivalent is preferable
  • At least 10 years' experience in project development / engineering management / asset management of renewable energy facilities
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing energy yield assessments, combined with experience of optimising plant performance
  • Solid understanding of knowledge of linear and CFD modelling methodologies
  • Fluent in spoken and written English, and capability in both spoken and written Chinese (Putonghua and simplified Chinese) are advantageous
  • Strong interpersonal and team work skills
  • Able to deliver high quality reports under time pressure
