Major Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head (Clearing Operations & Development) in managing the division to provide quality clearing services, including electronic clearing, paper clearing and Faster Payment Service, to member banks of all currencies
  • Provide services in compliance with the respective Clearing House Rules, Operating Procedures and service agreements between HKICL and its business partners
  • Liaise with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), and Settlement Institutions/Clearing Bank of all clearing currencies to ensure that the clearing and interbank settlements are executed on time according to the predefined settlement schedule
  • Assist the Head (Clearing Operations & Development) in exploring and developing new business initiatives and workflow improvement opportunities
  • Conduct feasibility study on potential initiatives; plan, co-ordinate and manage new projects
  • Assist the Head (Clearing Operations & Development) in overseeing the quality assurance team in the system development/enhancement projects to ensure the system quality and functionalities are provided in accordance with the system specification
  • Ensure rules and operating procedures are up-to-date from an operation perspective and monitor compliance by participants

Requirements

  • University education preferably majoring in business studies, finance and banking or related disciplines
  • Over 12 years of experience in banking operations with exposure to payment/item processing, cheque clearing, payment systems or relevant payment services, preferably with 5 years of managerial experience
  • Strong knowledge of paper and electronic cheque clearing or retail payments processing will be an advantage
  • Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, proficiency in Putonghua is preferable
  • Good interpersonal, supervisory and analytical skills
  • Independent, able to work under pressure and willing to embrace changes
  • Willing to perform shift duties as required
