Senior Manager - Maintenance and Engineering

Position Summary

The Senior Manager Maintenance and Engineering is responsible for overseeing the maintenance interventions in HCT central services and across all campuses, in accordance with a maintenance plan and budget. He/she is responsible for managing vendors (painting, engineering, plumbing, etc.) and plays a pivotal role in ensuring that facilities are in compliance with Facilities Management policies and set standards. He/she also closely monitors HCT facilities to schedule maintenance and to spot and correct facility deficiencies, and manages the execution of all maintenance and refurbishing activities.


  • Develop reactive and preventive maintenance plan, policies and procedures for HCT Central Services and its campuses, in line with local and international requirements and good practice.
  • Plan periodical maintenance tasks and shutdown maintenance works, and allocate specific tasks to subordinates to execute these.
  • Lead maintenance and repair operations across HCT and its campuses and on on-call repair services and ensure that they are in compliance with Maintenance and Engineering policies and procedures.
  • Oversee regular facility inspections and site walks to evaluate the conditions or maintenance requirements, and implement good practices to improve efficiencies and reduce operating costs across HCT.
  • Review and sign off the periodical service or maintenance reports submitted by the service contractors.
  • Collaborate with Procurement and Contracts for maintenance supplies and services and ensure contract terms and conditions are implemented.
  • Manage relationships with contractors and service providers to ensure quality services.
  • Review maintenance logs including complaints and request logs and propose solutions to resolve these.
  • Manage a team of technicians to ensure proper execution of the maintenance operations.
  • Oversee the provision of a wide range of engineering expertise in HCT projects as well as maintenance activities.
  • Identify issues which require engineering support and expertise and coordinate with relevant engineers to solve issues in a timely and adequate manner.


  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required e.g. Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering.
  • Full English proficiency is required.
  • Intermediate computer literacy is required e.g. MS Office, AutoCAD.


  • Minimum of eight years of work experience in Maintenance and Engineering with at least two years of experience in a managerial role.
