Senior Manager/Manager System Development (Mainframe)

Our client is a major local bank. They are seeking a talented candidate with over 10 years experiences on systems development, systems analysis, production support and programming in the Core Banking Department or equivalence. The role of the position holder will be responsible for providing production, development, functional support and configuration management of the Bank’s Core Banking application in line with business Service Level Agreements (SLA), internal guidelines and regulatory requirements. The responsibilities of the role also include facilitation of seamless integration with other interdependent software applications, business analysis and requirements gathering, application testing, training of end users and management of service level agreements with application vendors.

  • Support development on Host application systems, including CUR, SAV, FIXED Depost, ATM, CIF, autopay, HKICL FTS processing and related systems
  • Conduct requirement studies, system analysis and design
  • Perform programming, testing, and coordinate user acceptance test of mainframe systems
  • Prepare functional and technical specifications, operation and procedure manuals
  • Co-ordinate with vendor on outsourced development work
  • Provide support to production systems


  • University degree holder in Computer Science or related disciplines
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, preferably with knowledge of financial applications including ATM, current account, savings account, fixed deposit, CIF, autopay, etc.
  • Implementation and management experience of Core Banking Software very desirable.
  • Good track records of programming skills, with knowledge in CICS, DB2, MQ,  COBOL, JCL, TWS, Printsoft, EXCEL are preferable but not a must
  • Solid 5+ years of experience in developing mainframe systems is a plus
  • Solid experience in leading sizable projects is a plus
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing banking application support processes including application defect management
  • Demonstrated experience in managing service level agreement with application service providers
  • Good communication skills (Cantonese, English, Putonghua an advantage)
  • Good team player, keen to learn, passionate and proactive

    Candidates with less experience will be considered as Assistant Manager
