Cloud Light provides research, development and manufacturing services of optical solutions, transceivers, active optical cables currently upto 400G mainly for datacom, telecom, automotive market for tier-1 customers globally. Cloud Light has been operated since 2004 as a business unit of a leading Japanese comprehensive electronic component manufacturer in Hong Kong and was spin-off in April 2018 to become an independent company. Cloud Light's R&D center is strategically located in Hong Kong whilst manufacturing plant and reliability and testing labs are located in Dongguan, China. Cloud Light’s R&D team is multinational comprising 32% Ph.D., 48% Master, and 20% Bachelor degree holders.

Cloud Light is urgently looking for various high caliber candidates to join the R&D team in Hong Kong to support the vast growing research and development projects to meet customer and market requirements, as well as product development of future technologies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overall mechanical design of optical sensor and transceiver products and all associated opto-mechanical sub-assemblies;
  • Coordinate with PCB and optical designers to ensure overall manufacturability of the product;
  • Perform thermal and mechanical simulation to understand and optimize package designs, processes, and materials selection;


  • Master or higher in Mechanical Engineering or relevant engineering disciplines;
  • Proficient in Creo, Solidwork or equivalent 3-D CAD software with good command of GD&T skills
  • Prior experience in fiber-optic transceiver product design in accordance with standard multisource agreements (MSA) for optical transceivers.
  • Hands-on experience in thermal and structural simulation using ANSYS or other FEA tools;
  • Experience of precision manufacturing processes and tooling construction of machining, stamping, die casting, and injection moulding is a plus;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for direct interaction with customers and vendors;
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a multilingual environment (English and Mandarin)
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, independent, self-motivated, creative, innovative and responsible.

Remunerations & Benefits:

  • Work locations in Hong Kong and travel to the PRC may be required
  • Work Hours from 9am to 6pm
