ROLE SUMMARY

This position plays a leadership role in Medical Affairs for Pfizer Upjohn for providing medical insight, developing medical strategies and overseeing the execution of medical initiatives for Pfizer Upjohn products. As a senior manager, he/she will also develop and execute the overall Upjohn medical strategy, policies and procedures and medical compliance.

The Senior Medical Affairs Manager acts as an Internal Opinion Leader providing medical input and guidance to areas of medical and brand strategy, review and approve promotional material/activities, design and oversee execution of medical initiatives. In addition, he/she has an important focus on interacting with Regional and Global Categorical leads.

A pivotal aspect is to facilitate the interaction/partnership between Healthcare Professionals (HCPs), academia and Pfizer. He/she is also responsible for ensuring the Company’s adherence to high standards of conduct in all its dealings with the medical profession and supporting health care disciplines, and with consumers.

 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

MEDICAL AFFAIRS

Take a medical leadership role in developing overall medical strategy for the Upjohn HK Medical and his/her responsible portfolio(s) and to work closely with region/global for alignment.
Prepare new product launch by generating medical insights and understand the unmet medical needs through medical-to-medical communication, advisory board and data generation.
Plan and consolidate medical resources to support portfolio strategies and medical projects.
Ensure excellence with respect to medical quality and compliance as well as professional external relations.

 

STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT LEAD

Define and develop an external stakeholder engagement plan that links to HK Upjohn overall medical strategies
Develop strategic partnerships with key healthcare stakeholders; developing strategies aligned to customer needs in order to maintain a therapeutic leadership position.
Act as the lead coordinator for Global Medical Grant programs for Upjohn
Provide medical oversight on the HK Patient Assistant Programs

 

MARKETING SUPPORT

Act as an integral member of the Medical-Marketing team to provide medical inputs/advices for the portfolio strategy.
Facilitate the interaction/partnership between Key Opinion Leader (KOLs), Academia, Clinicians, Researchers and Pfizer
Provide disease and product training to sales and marketing colleagues when required.
Review customer engagement program to ensure its’ design complies with company SOPs, guidelines and local industry codes and regulations on ethics and patient confidentiality
Deliver educational talks to HCPs or consumers if required.

 

PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS REVIEW AND APPROVAL

Review promotional materials for accuracy and adherence to the relevant Pfizer policies, local industry codes and regulatory guidelines as required.
Provide scientific and medical advice/ support to Marketing colleagues

 

INVESTIGATOR INITIATED RESEARCH (IIR)/ REGIONAL OR LOCAL SPONSORED TRIALS

Discuss research concept with interested researcher, and communicate the nature and requirement of Pfizer’s IIR.
Facilitate submission of investigator initiated pre-clinical and clinical proposals, and act as a liaison between Pfizer and IIR researcher.
Support Pfizer Regional or local sponsored trial (including post-marketing trial), which is not under the clinical research team, if applicable.

 

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT

Build an effective team and exemplify Pfizer culture and core values
Coach team members, share expertise, inspire others in the Medical Affairs team, promoting the medical functions internally and development of medical strategies.
Support other Medical Affairs colleagues in special projects, locally, regionally and internationally.

 

SUPERVISION OF ASSOCIATES/STUDENTS/INTERNS

Assist in the on boarding of new team members, students and interns.
Oversee the performance management, professional and personal development of new team members, students and interns during their program or contract.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Medical Sciences e.g. Pharmacy, Life Sciences e.g. Pharmacology or related field
  • At least 6 years of experience in Pharmaceutical industry as medical affairs with 3 years of experience as medical affairs manager
  • Strong medical and scientific knowledge and Medical Affairs experience Good computer usage
  • Good understanding about the International and local pharmaceutical business and marketing practices
  • Good knowledge of the local medical and regulatory environment
  • Proficiency in spoken & written English and Chinese
  • Good computer usage
