Position Purpose

BNP Paribas has entered into settlement agreements with regulators for conduct and control related issues arising out of BNPP’s foreign exchange business. The settlements required BNPP to submit written plans to the regulators forming BNPP’s global remediation plan. APAC Compliance is remediating the APAC element of "compliance-owned" and "compliance-related" responses to the plan through several streams:
1. Risk assessment framework
2. Internal Control framework & independent testing
3. Compliance policies, compliance advisory to the business & training
4. Trade surveillance models & systems
5. E-communications surveillance strategy & systems

APAC Compliance COO Office is, within APAC Compliance department, responsible for the support of compliance function in the region through the management of compliance transversal processes out of regional hubs, the execution of generic controls as well as the management of compliance projects for the different domains of compliance. This position, within the project team of APAC Compliance COO Office, will lead the roll-out of this remediation program for compliance in APAC as well as define and lead the implementation of the target model of market integrity domain, under the sponsorship of the APAC head of Compliance Market Integrity domain.

Depending on opportunities, this position will manage other initiatives for compliance in APAC, as and when required.


Direct Responsibilities

  • Define the target model for Market Integrity surveillance
o Structure activities related to the definition and the implementation of the MI TOM
o Propose solutions on the different dimensions of the TOM: organization, staffing, surveillance strategy, tools, controls, performance management
o Facilitate the definition of the TOM and ensure the engagement of all stakeholders on the target (APAC business, APAC compliance, group compliance)
  • Conduct actions aiming at the reinforcement of compliance set-up for market abuse surveillance
o From IG findings or internal assessment, collect & analyse data
o Define an action plan jointly with stakeholders and management to address any weakness identified
  • Drive the CMC remediation program in APAC under the sponsorship of APAC MI domain head:
o With the support of PMO consultants, ensure that APAC is aligned to the global objectives of the CMC remediation program and meet the milestones committed to the regulators
o Drive the planning of activities identified on the risk assessment framework, the control plan, the trade surveillance models, the communications surveillance strategy
o Communicate a clear status to APAC management
  • Lead APAC Compliance initiatives as and when required (eg. Actimize models fine-tuning, Veritas implementation, RPA for Trade Surveillance, etc.)
