The Office of Service-Learning (OSL) is looking for an innovative and visionary project lead to spearhead the Social Innovation Hub (SIH) development under the Lingnan Entrepreneurship Initiative (LEI). LEI is a collaborative innovation and entrepreneurship platform established to empower entrepreneurs, innovators, and inventors to take action for inclusive growth. It is the first and only entrepreneurship platform in Hong Kong designed to augment the transformative power of liberal arts education. SIH is a practical manifestation of LEI, it aims to accelerate resources and knowledge exchange between university and community members at local and global levels to foster a vibrant entrepreneurship community to promote inclusive entrepreneurship and drive innovation, growth and social prosperity in Hong Kong and Asia. SIH regularly conducts forums, workshops, events and conferences covering business, technology, social innovation, design, leadership and other popular topics to empower entrepreneurs and innovators to be the 21st century leaders of inclusive entrepreneurship across Asia.
The appointee will work closely with the OSL team and be assigned to one or more of the following tasks:
a) Designing and organizing flagship international social innovation conferences, summer camps, and programmes to bring together NGO leaders, educators, social innovators, entrepreneurs, and community partners;
b) Collaborating with key stakeholders, including educators, students, and impact investors to design and conduct regular forums, workshops, lectures, exhibitions and other inspiring events for capacity building;
c) Developing an integrated programme for nurturing socially conscious entrepreneurs through Lingnan’s unique liberal arts education;
d) Overseeing the development of online courses and e-learning material on innovation and entrepreneurship, design thinking, service-learning, and relevant topics to empower secondary schools and universities to adopt inclusive entrepreneurship education;
e) liaison with major universities (including Global Liberal Arts Alliance) to establish international projects, credit-bearing programmes and minor in innovation and entrepreneurship;
f) Designing appropriate metrics for evaluating programme impacts;
g) Designing creative campaigns to promote SIH and Lingnan University as a social innovation hub internationally; and
h) Conducting any other duties assigned by the supervisors, such as providing support to service-learning projects implementation, realizing new initiatives, and daily office operations.
Requirements: (i) a recognized full-time postgraduate research degree from reputable universities, with at least 4 years’ relevant experience, preferably in the tertiary education sector; (ii) an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese; (iii) proactive working attitude with good interpersonal, project management and communication skills; (iv) good organizational skill to perform administrative duties independently, efficiently and under tight working schedule; (v) high competency in MS office and webpage applications; (vi) good knowledge of online teaching platform and online course development; (vii) experience in organizing summer camps and overseas programmes in tertiary education sector; (viii) extensive international exposure; (ix) genuine interest in social innovation and entrepreneurship; and (x) experience in organising community projects.
Preference will be given to candidates with PhD and outstanding academic and working experience in Hong Kong, Mainland and international universities. Knowledge in design thinking, social entrepreneurship, process of science and/or engineering are advantages. Candidates with less/more experience will also be considered for appointment at a relevant rank.
Salary and Fringe Benefits
The rank and commencing salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits, where applicable, include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund and gratuity.
