The appointee will mainly provide support to a project entitled “A School-Based Support model of Social-Emotional Development for Kindergarten Children" sponsored by the Simon K.Y. Lee Foundation. This project is to develop and implement a tiered intervention model of the response to intervention (RTI) for promotion children’s social-emotional competence, preventing and addressing challenging social-emotional difficulties. This project aims to encompass support for teachers and parents of young children with social-emotional needs who attend kindergartens at K2 and K3.
The appointees are required in preparing test materials, testing the children, interviewing the parents, inviting teachers to fill in checklists, conducting testing and processing and analyzing a large data set. They will also liaise with teachers and parents as well as supervise part-time Research Assistants/ Student Helpers. The initial appointment will be for a period of 12 months with the possibility of renewal subject to mutual agreement.
For the post of Senior Research Assistant, applicants should have a Master’s Degree plus at least one-year post-qualification full-time working experience, or a doctorate. For the post of Research Assistant, applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Psychology, or other related disciplines with relevant post-qualification full-time working experience or an approved qualification of equivalent standard. They should have good multi-tasking, interpersonal and communication skills. Applicants should have high proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese. Knowledge in computer applicants (such as Excel, Access and Chinese word processing) and SPSS statistical analysis is essential. Knowledge in literacy learning and experience in dealing with diverse learners will be advantageous. Immediate availability is preferred.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
