Located in Hong Kong, BASF’s Asia Pacific headquarters oversees more than 18,000 employees at about 100 production sites and 125 sales offices across the region. In addition to a number of regional business units, the Hong Kong office also houses regional functional units including Corporate Affairs, Finance and Controlling, Human Resources, Management Consulting, Procurement and Supply Chain Services.

Objectives of the Position

Reporting to the Head of Compensation & Benefits and HR M&A/Divestiture Asia Pacific, the incumbent will:

  • act as the centre of excellence (CoE) on C&B topics to provide advisory and consultative services to the HR community

  • participate in C&B cycles in Asia Pacific and regional/ global projects implementation including annual salary review, surveys & benefits renewal/ improvement, incentive plans implementation, etc.

  • participate in development and implementation of C&B strategies, prepare analysis, benchmarking and reports etc in the Asia Pacific region with the aim to partner with business on employee attraction and retention

Job Responsibilities

  • Analyse and review salary review proposals, new salary and bonus structure for Asia Pacific countries

  • Analyse country economic indicators, company business results and market data in order to review and make recommendation for Regional HR Management approval

  • Review market data and market trend regularly in order to review and further develop appropriate regional guidelines and best practices on C&B topics

  • Act as the centre of excellence (CoE) on C&B topics, provide advisory and consultative services to HR community

  • Develop C&B analytics and metrics to support management on data-driven decision making

  • Liaise with global counterparts on global C&B program and provide feedback and advice to ensure fulfilment of regional needs as well as alignment with the global framework

  • Lead global and / regional C&B projects implementation in Asia Pacific region

  • Assist in HR system enhancement and implementation

  • Assist in any ad hoc projects as assigned


  • Holder of Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related disciplines

  • 8 years or above HR experience with at least 4 years in C&B development

  • Experience in global organization and MNC environment, process broad knowledge of multiple countries and ability to comprehend diversity of the region

  • Good knowledge of C&B concept, including survey benchmarking, salary management, variable pay design and fundamentals of benefits program

  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills

  • Critical and systematic thinking

  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Excellent command in written and spoken English

  • Candidates with less experience will be considered as Senior Specialist
