INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICES OFFICE
Senior Specialist / Specialist (Research Computing and Support Services) (Ref. 21012907-E3)
The appointee will be assigned to work in the System Infrastructure Services Section and responsible for supporting the Research Computing Services. He/She will be required to:
(a) plan and prepare training materials, conduct online and face to face trainings/workshops to students and research staff on the use of software and tools for research;
(b) support, maintain and upgrade research applications, data analytic tools and machine learning software to facilitate the use by students and research staff;
(c) participate in research applications development projects;
(d) perform system software administration on research computing platforms; and
(e) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of the Office or his delegates.
(a) have a recognised degree in Computing, Software Engineering or a related discipline;
(b) have at least five years’ hands on experience in Python or R programming;
(c) be familiar with data analytics software and tools;
(d) preferably have experience in applying machine Learning algorithms to solve business problems;
(e) have good interpersonal and communication skills; and
(f) be proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua.
